The Quindío Botanical Garden: A Magical Journey to the Green Heart of Colombia

When our guests arrive at the farm seeking to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of big cities, they always ask us for a recommendation that captures the true essence of the Coffee Cultural Landscape. Our answer is immediate and unanimous: the Quindío Botanical Garden.

Located in the charming municipality of Calarcá, just minutes from our property, this green oasis is not simply a place to walk; it is an idyllic natural refuge where life pulsates in every leaf, every wing, and every ray of sunlight that filters through the canopy of the Andean rainforest. If you are planning your next trip to our region, prepare to discover why this sanctuary is a must-see on your itinerary.

A Journey in Absolute Connection with Nature

From the moment you step through the garden’s entrance, the air changes. The aroma of damp earth, wildflowers, and lush vegetation completely envelops you. What makes this place truly special is that the experience keeps you completely connected to nature, inviting you to slow down, breathe deeply, and sharpen your senses.

Along perfectly designed ecological trails, you’ll delve into a breathtaking living collection. You’ll find beautiful themed gardens and diverse plant life representing Colombia’s immense biodiversity, including one of the most important collections of native palms on the continent. Every step is a lesson in conservation and a reminder of the fragility and beauty of our ecosystems.

The Butterfly Pavilion: A Spectacular of Colors in Motion

The garden’s most dazzling treasure—and a favorite among all our visitors—is its spectacular butterfly pavilion. With an imposing structure designed in the shape of a giant butterfly, this space is home to thousands of colorful specimens from dozens of native species.

Walking through the butterfly pavilion is like stepping into a fairy tale. Surrounded by lush tropical vegetation and a subtle mist, butterflies flutter freely all around you. If you remain silent and still for a moment, it’s very likely that one of them, attracted by the colors of your clothing, will gently land on your shoulder or hand. It’s a magical, photogenic, and deeply moving experience that will stay with you forever.

Adventure, Science, and Extraordinary Views

The Quindío Botanical Garden has perfectly balanced environmental conservation with entertainment and adventure for the whole family. Beyond its botanical trails, the park offers a variety of attractions that spark the curiosity of both young and old:

Suspension Bridges: Cross mysterious wooden bridges suspended among the trees, an experience that adds a touch of adventure to your walk and allows you to observe the forest from a different perspective.

The Labyrinth: A fun challenge made of hedges where getting lost is part of the game and reconnecting with nature is the reward.

The Insect Zoo: A fascinating and educational space where you can debunk myths and observe up close the amazing structure and vital role insects play on our planet.

Animal Exhibit and the 7-Story Observatory: For photography and landscape enthusiasts, the observation tower is a highlight. Ascending its seven levels, you’ll rise above the treetops to contemplate a breathtaking panorama of the Andean forest and the Quindío mountains.

A Paradise for Bird Lovers

If you’re a birdwatching enthusiast or simply enjoy their morning songs on our property, the garden will dazzle you. This area is home to and a refuge for more than 70 cataloged bird species. As you walk, the forest transforms into a natural symphony composed of the calls of emerald toucans, colorful motmots, iridescent hummingbirds, and woodpeckers. Don’t forget your binoculars and keep your camera ready.

The Perfect Plan in Quindío: Why You Should Visit PANACA Park on Your Next Vacation

Hello, travelers and nature lovers! If you’re planning your next getaway to our beautiful Quindío region and staying with us, there’s one place you simply can’t leave off your itinerary. We’re talking about a magical corner where fun, learning, and rural traditions come together in one space: the National Agricultural Culture Park, better known as PANACA.

Located in the green heart of the Coffee Region, this theme park is the ideal complement to the relaxing experience we offer at our tourist farm. Below, we tell you everything you need to know about this gem of Llanos tourism and why both adults and children have a blast when they step inside.

A Tribute to the Roots of Our Land

PANACA is not your average amusement park. It was founded on December 7, 1999, and is located in the charming municipality of Quimbaya, just a short and scenic drive from our farm.

The idea originated with a group of visionary entrepreneurs who wanted to reconnect society with rural life. Their goal was to create a theme park focused on agricultural activity, where locals and tourists could enjoy a spectacular day in the countryside, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes and fresh air.

Today, the park is famous for its celebrated and powerful motto: “Without the countryside, there is no city.” This phrase is not just a slogan; it is a philosophy of life that seeks to raise awareness among visitors about the importance of farming, food production, and respect for the animals that make urban life possible.

What can you do at PANACA? A tour of its 10 stations

The magic of PANACA lies in its interactivity. Here, you don’t just come to look; you come to touch, feed, and learn. The park is designed for you to stroll at your own pace along a nature-filled path that leads you through 10 themed stations:

Livestock Station: Be amazed by the local and international breeds of livestock and learn about the milking process.

Small Animals Station: A favorite spot for little ones, filled with rabbits, guinea pigs, and poultry.

Ostrich Station: Observe these impressive and curious birds up close.

Pig Farming Station: Learn about responsible pig farming in a fun and engaging way.

Feline Station: A space dedicated to cat lovers with a variety of breeds.

Agroecology and Integrated Farm Station: Discover how to cultivate the land sustainably and organically.

Dog Station: A high-energy area where dogs show off their skills.

Equine Station: Admire the elegance of horses, ponies, and donkeys in one of the largest collections on the continent.

Sericulture Station: Discover the fascinating process of natural silk production.

Herpetarium Station: For the bravest, a space dedicated to reptiles and amphibians.

Best of all, at many of these stations you can buy bottles or feed to feed the animals yourselfan experience children will never forget and that rekindles adults’ sense of wonder.

Shows that will thrill you

In addition to the interactive exhibits, PANACA is world-renowned for the quality of its live shows. These are international-level productions that combine humor, acrobatics, tradition, and the starring role of the animals.

Among the most outstanding shows are The Wonderful World of the Horse, an elegant equestrian exhibition; Instinct, where dogs demonstrate amazing intelligence; and the hilarious Pig and Troubadour Show, which will have you laughing out loud while celebrating the culture of the Antioquia region.

The perfect complement to your stay with us

After a day filled with hiking, laughter, and excitement at PANACA, there’s nothing better than returning home. And that’s precisely what we want to be for you: your home away from home in Quindío.

By staying at our country estate, you can process everything you learned at the park while relaxing with a cup of freshly brewed coffee, enjoying our pool at sunset, and listening to the sounds of local birds. We offer the tranquility and comfort you need to recharge and continue exploring the region’s treasures.

The Coffee Park: The Heart of Fun and Tradition in Quindío

If you’re planning your next vacation to the Coffee Region and looking for a place where history, tradition, and adrenaline come together in one space, there’s a must-see destination you should add to your itinerary: The Coffee Park. Located in the municipality of Montenegro, in the heart of the Quindío department, this iconic place has established itself as the epicenter of Colombia’s coffee culture, offering the perfect experience to enjoy, laugh, and learn with your family or friends.

Unlike other amusement parks around the world, the Coffee Park has a unique essence. It’s not just about riding a roller coaster; it’s about walking among coffee plantations, breathing the pure air of the Quindío mountains, and understanding why Colombian coffee is considered the smoothest and most delicious on the planet.

Much More Than an Amusement Park: A Cultural Legacy

Behind its towering trees and colorful attractions lies a story of love for our land. The Coffee Park is a non-profit organization proudly belonging to the Coffee Culture Park Foundation. Its primary mission extends far beyond commercial entertainment: it was founded with the firm purpose of working for the preservation, conservation, and dissemination of the cultural and historical heritage of coffee in Colombia.

Every corner of the park is designed to pay homage to the thousands of coffee-picking families—the muleteers and coffee pickers—whose daily efforts have positioned our culture as a World Heritage Site. Visiting it is like taking a journey through time to discover how the coffee bean transformed the economy, architecture, and identity of an entire region.

An unforgettable day: Adrenaline, myths, and flavor

Spanning over 50 hectares, the park is designed to offer its visitors a full day of unforgettable recreation. The beauty of this place is that it has options for absolutely all tastes and ages:

For adrenaline junkies: It boasts impressive mechanical attractions like Krater (a freefall ride that will leave you breathless) or the Yippe Roller Coaster, a mechanical tribute to our traditional Willys Jeeps.

For those looking to connect with history: The themed circuit includes the Archaeological Museum, the Coffee Trail (where you’ll see the different varieties of coffee beans up close), and a replica of a typical plaza from the Antioquian colonial period, with its wattle and daub architecture and vibrant colors.

For family fun: The live shows are unmissable gems. The Coffee Show is a masterful work of dance, lights, and music that tells the story of our tradition and often brings tears of emotion to many.

A friendly tip: The park is huge. We recommend arriving very early (9:00 a.m.), wearing comfortable clothing, walking shoes, and sun protection. You’ll need every minute to explore it completely!

Flavors and Memories with a Unique Touch

A day filled with hikes and excitement works up an appetite. Fortunately, within the park, you’ll find a diverse culinary offering. Its restaurants offer everything from traditional regional dishes—like a hearty bandeja paisa or trout—to international options and, of course, stations where you can savor premium coffee prepared by expert baristas.

Before evening falls and you head back to rest, a visit to the gift and souvenir shops is a must. There you can purchase exclusive products bearing the National Coffee Park’s own brand. From local crafts and clothing to the finest coffee, packaged at origin, perfect for taking home a piece of Quindío’s magic or surprising your loved ones with an unforgettable gift.

After such an intense and joyful day, there’s nothing better than returning to the tranquility, comfort, and natural surroundings of our tourist farm to recharge. We look forward to welcoming you to Quindío to experience this adventure together!

The true heart of our region beats to the rhythm of the countryside, smells of fresh coffee in the mornings, and is adorned with the pride of the muleteer tradition. If you’re planning your next trip and wondering how to experience this legacy firsthand, there’s one must-see destination you should add to your itinerary: RECUCA.

Recuca is a coffee farm designed for you to have a blast while learning, firsthand, about the Paisa culture, the secrets of the bean, and authentic life on a Quindío farm.

Do you want to experience what it’s like to live on a typical Paisa coffee farm? You’ve come to the right place. At this beautiful farm, you’re not just a spectator; you become the protagonist of a story that has been feeding the world for decades.

A Magical Journey Guided by Experts

What is the experience like, step by step?

The tour takes you through all the stages of the coffee process, allowing you to interact with nature and tradition:

Planting and Harvesting: You’ll don the traditional coffee picker’s attire (chapolera or andariego), sling a basket around your waist, and head out into the coffee plantation. You’ll learn to identify the ripe beans that deserve to be picked and feel the weight of the work in the fields.

Processing and Drying: You’ll learn how the beans are pulped, washed, and undergo the delicate sun-drying process, a crucial step in preserving the flavor notes of the cup.

Roasting and Grinding: You’ll experience the incomparable aroma of coffee when it’s roasted by hand and how its texture changes when ground.

Cutting: At the end of the tour, you’ll learn the basic principles for tasting high-quality coffee, savoring a perfectly prepared cup.

During this fun-filled tour, you’ll also discover interesting and little-known details about the history of how this plant arrived in Colombia, the customs of the ever-curious and adventurous Paisa culture, and the enormous geopolitical and economic importance that coffee has had across the globe.

“It’s a tribute to the coffee picker and to the coffee-growing way of life,” says Luis Darío Orozco, the director and guide of the farm, with pride. And he’s absolutely right: it’s a space designed to celebrate and honor the hands of the farmers who rise early, following the rhythm of their mules, to harvest the “green gold” from our mountains.
